Mount Bisoke Crater Lake Hike

Mount Bisoke is an active volcano located in Musanze, Rwanda.

I can believe that I actually managed to hike that volcano after only 2 hours of sleep.

The bus living kigali to Musanze was to depart at 5 A.M and the plan was for me to squeeze in at least 4 hours of sleep. I went to bed around midnight and found myself awake 2 AM (don’t ask me how).

After many failed attempt at getting back to sleep, I dragged myself out of the bed at 4 AM then headed out to catch the bus. As you can guess it was still dark. We left Kigali around 5.45 am, we arrived at the foot of the Volcano around 8.30 A.M and started hiking around 9 AM.

All in All, we were very lucky that It did not rain while we were climbing up, usually it rains all year long which makes it a nightmare to climb but for us It was nice and dry.

Climbing up it takes 5-6 hours with many breaks as possible. And it takes 2-3 hours to climb down. Let’s just say that I couldn’t feel my legs for a week. But it was all worth it.

See for yourself.
